Nikki's Tips
1. Have a very involved supportive husband--and that is what I have. He's fabulous. He cooks more than I do, does probably more laundry, and looks after Olivia (their 3-year-old daughter) as much as I do.
2. Do the best you can, and don't feel guilty for any shortfall.
3. Cut out a lot of deadwood when it comes to friends. Now I only spend time with people I really like.
4. I'm not a list-maker, but something I've learned over the years is never to leave things to the last moment. There's always the risk Olivia's going to get chicken pox, or something will go drastically wrong.
5. It's really important to have your own space--and mine's right at the top of the house.
6. Pace yourself, or you start to feel really stressed.
